- Write a BRIEF plot review
The Worlds Fastest Indian is about is about a an old man called Burt Munro from New Zealand who travels to America to set a land speed record. on the way he meets various characters that he persuades to help him. when he eventually reaches Bonneville to where he intends to race he learns he had to register months before, however he meets another racer there who is able to help him get his bike registered and set his record.
- Discuss a character that stood out to you and why
Burt Munro stood out to me as an eternally positive old man who was always able to win over and make friend with strangers to aid him in his journey.
- Analyse the setting of the text – was it effective? Discuss.
I found the setting of the movie very effective particularly the use of period accurate props such as vintage cars and tools. these vintage props really help to immerse viewer in the setting.
- Discuss the directors intention – do you believe they were successful in presenting this?
i think the director wanted to Portray Burt Munro as a forever positive kiwi that through a combination of luck and charisma managed to break a world speed record. I think this was portrayed well in the film, multiple times Burt would become stuck in a situation and convince various characters to aid him in his journey.
- Write about ONE cinematography technique that was effective in the film
One film technique i found effective was panning, at the beginning of the film the director shows a panning shot of pistons Burt has made that he “offers to the god of speed”. In this shot the director shows that Burt is focused solely on the speed of his motorbike and that he has spent many hours working towards his goal of a land speed record
